Hey Bill,
I have no doubt everyone that has been writing for a while has at least one hit if not a super hit in their catalog. I have had unsoliciated feedback on song submissions that was very postive so I don't worry about having a song or two to pitch.
The other thing I would say is it takes time to write good songs. You don't write a hit every day. While Artists and Labels want the Artist to write all their own songs it is a big mistake to not listen to outside songs because that is where you are most likely to find that "Sleeper" that puts you on the map.
