The narcissistic behavior associated with Nazism and its leaders includes:
Grandiose self-image: Hitler and other Nazi leaders fostered a cult of personality, projecting an image of superiority and destiny.
Lack of empathy: The Nazi ideology was defined by an extreme lack of empathy for others, especially those deemed "racially inferior," which allowed for the systematic persecution and murder of millions.
Sense of entitlement: Nazi leadership believed they were entitled to control and expand their territory at the expense of others.
Manipulation and exploitation: The regime used manipulation and intimidation to gain control and exploit others for its own goals.
Blaming others: Like malignant narcissists, Nazi leaders projected their failures outward, blaming others for the problems of society

Narcissism usually develops as a defense mechanism. When someone feels deeply insecure, neglected, or powerless (often early in life), they may build a false self-image to protect against feelings of shame or inadequacy. This “grandiose self” becomes armor — they convince themselves (and others) that they’re special, superior, or entitled.
