You're right that kids have no problem finding music they want.. but it isn't the radio they're finding it on. It's filesharing and burned CD's of the songs their friends have found on the file sharing networks.

The good news about this is that there's a larger cost to buring file shared songs (i.e. the cost of burnings the CD's) than there is to paying 8-10 bucks a month for access to ALL music ALL the time. The cool thing about on demand is that anyone can make a playlist and share it with a friend. With nothing stopping them from sharing this info, they ALSO become valued "Filters" and when they send their favorite list to their friends, each time those songs are checked out.. another penny goes in the bank for the artist/writer. It's really a beautiful system for everyone.

As for the comments about missing the guy with the platinum records and the sexy assistant, never fear. Whoever is most successful making the songs people want to request and whoever it is that is able to best choose the songs for playlists will still make a LOT of money and still have all the trappings of the Rock and Roll lifestyle psuedo myth we all know and love.
