The difference for the indies is that everyone has access to the internet. It's not a closed shop the way radio was. People can move from "filter" to "filter" as they now move from station to station. The big difference is that you or I can be on one of those stations all the time, not just get played a few times a year...we're always available.

As the g.p. moves more to this system and away from radio (which I think will become more news and talk oriented, that's already happening) the indies get to be on the same playing field with the big dogs. Will the big money have an advantage? Always. Only in the future, the indies will at least have a chance. The price of distribution will no longer prohibit the little guy from reaching a large audience.

It reminds me of cable...before cable, Billy Ray Cyrus wouldn't have had a tv show, and Emeril, Bill O'Reilly, or Queer Eye for a Straight Guy would have probably not become popular.
