Brian, Yes - I do and that makes sense. The only point I want to make is that if you read the material in that link I provided, it appears to me that the Copyright Office is CONSIDERING going along with what the major players would like, and that is a non-webcast (webcast being radio like streaming - songs picked by a DJ, not by you) streaming on demand model is actually delivering a DPD, which is subject to compulsary license law. Meaning, each song played under a streaming on demand model would rack up 8.5 cents of mech license fees (or a lower negotiated rate). That's each and every time the song is played. That's why I think the streaming on demand model we are talking about might actually be a one-time DPD delivery to an "online" personal storage locker, and from there you could play it as many times as you want without racking up more fees. At least in theory, that's what MP3.com did (not the BEAM-IT-UP thing, but when they sold a CD). And about the above paragraph I may be wrong, and you may be absolutely correct they will average it out and then set a monthly fee, but I do think they are going to (actually the SR owner) have to pay a mech fee for each and every time a song is played if it is true streaming on demand. And, a PRO fee, because the PRO's will consider it a public performance. Hey - I also think there is a button on the RFV player that provides a big clue to something else not discussed in relation to the Virgin thing and JPF. Which is cool [This message has been edited by Liszt Laughing (edited 03-13-2004).]
