Okay, after reading this and listening to the interview, what I seem to be picking up that some others aren't is this..

- This penny-per-play thing is what the ARTIST/SONGWRITER gets paid.

- This is NOT what the model would be charging the consumer. So, when asked how the infrastructure, other rights holders, etc. could all be paid from this penny, the answer is that they ARE NOT being paid from the penny. The penny comes out of the 10 bucks a month from each subscriber. The remaining 9.99 is what pays for infrastructure, other rightsholders, overhead and operations, etc. I REPEAT: THE PENNY GOES TO THE ARTIST, NOT WHAT IS BEING CHARGED. It comes from what is being charged.

- Next, this is broadcast, so there is NO WORRY of illegal downloading from this. If you downloaded a file, it is because you BOUGHT AND PAID A SEPARATE FEE FOR THE DOWNLOAD, not to confuse this with the broadcasting. I assume that royalties are paid in a different schedule for the downloads.

- Lastly, who in the heck wants to download when you have on-demand broadcasting? It think it will deliver a huge crush to the illegal downloading and possibly even signify the beginning of music downloadings obsoletion. I say this because who in the heck wants to sit behind the computer and spend hours downloading music and then burning it and paying for all the blank CD's or memory upgrades to capture downloaded files when they can punch a button and hear what they want, as often as they want for 10 bucks a month? 120 bucks a year is the equivalent of buying 180 blank CD's at 20 bucks per 30 blank CD's. That is a lot of time burning your music, not to mention the steps involved in transporting CD's, changing discs, burning all over again when the CD gets scratched or stolen, etc. It really sounds like a small price to pay for infinite convenience.

There's my Just Plain 2 Cents. If I misunderstood something, please correct me. I've been accused of not listening or taking things out of context one other time in my life. 8-)
