But Marc, everyone can't live in Nashville, Nashville wants the whole world to buy their music, but Nashville won't acknowledge that people outside Nashville can also have the ability to write and produce music. I don't like Union closed shops, where you have to know someone on the inside to get in, talent does not matter, we won't look at your credentials, only the name of someone who sponsors you. It's not always the best talent that makes it, it is sometimes the person that tramples others and smooth talks others to get where they are. Not everyone is so desperate to be recognised that they will forsake home, family and friends to head to Nashville and maybe live from hand to mouth with the outside chance that they will make it. I don't know if admire someone like that or pity them. It takes guts or reckless abandonment to do it. But songwriting shouldn't be something that you have to be in a certain location to do it and succeed. If you want to build cars, then go to cities where the factories are, but songs are not cars. They are not built in factories. If someone wants to write a book, they don't have to go live in the city of the publisher of books, they write it at home and send it to the publisher. I don't see myself at my stage in life, forsaking all to go to Nashville to live, but if I have some great songs that the world should hear( not saying I do) shouldn't I be given a chance?
