One of the early songs that I remember is THE SINGING HILLS by Slim Whitman. Too early for most of you. Probably an attempt to write around another song from that Era, THE SINGING WATERFALL by Hank Williams. Don't know which came first.
Some other songs from way back is THE GREAT PRETENDER and SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES recorded by the Platters. PAPER MOON is another timeless Classic. Others such as THE WAYWARD WIND by Gogi Grant come to mind. Not to mention Dino and songs such as THATS AMORE.
