I did a similar bit in high school performing "What Kind Of Fool Am I" by Anthony Newley and Leslie Briccuse. It wasn't supposed to be a comedy routine, but the kids in the crowd started laughing at my pompous sincerity, so I went along and camped it up as if I was in on the joke. Saved me from total humiliation - and nobody was any the wiser (at least I don't think anybody figured it out).
"Close to You" in manic mode - sounds hilarious.
