The service was held underground In a secret place so they would not be found As they listened to the pastor read the word Suddenly a soldier's voice was heard "Hand me your Bible!" he cried Then he threw it down at the pastor's side And he said the only way you'll live tonight Is if you spit upon this book of lies One by one they did as they were told As they prayed "Father forgive me" they were then let go But a young girl cried, "What have they done?" Then she knelt down beside the book she loved The tear that fell was the last she cried As a gunshot echoed through the night
She took the torch and ran to the other side She's in the chain of love that's been passed down through time She took the torch and ran now she's safe from harm She ran right into her savior's arms She ran right into her savior's arms
The young man was only 18 And a soldier for the communist regime Interrogated for his Christian way He knew he could not deny his faith He was told discipline would help him learn One night standing in the snow would help him turn But with faith he walked into the bitter wind Praying for the strength to not give in One by one the cold nights went by As God sent him protection from the winter ice But the tortures grew to his painful death He served his Jesus with his last breath In a letter sent just before he died He told his parents "please don't cry"
He took the torch and ran to the other side He's in the chain of love that's been passed down through time He took the torch and ran now he's safe from harm He ran right into his savior's arms He ran right into his savior's arms
Lord I pray for the strength to stand When persecution sweeps this land May we join hand in hand And take the torch and run Take the torch and run To the promised land
Take the torch and run to the other side We’re in the chain of love that’s been passed down through time Take the torch and run we’ll be safe from harm When we run right into our savior’s arms We’ll run right into our savior’s arms
Take the torch and run Take the torch and run Take the torch and run Take the torch and run
