If I Had Known Words and Music by Susan R. Jones c.1997. Susan R. Jones
(Verse 1) If I had known of all the joy I'd see, The delights this life would bring; If I had known of pending dreams come true, From which moments they would spring; I'd have raced to those days throwing precious time away Along with little gifts designed for me alone.
(Verse 2) If I had known about those lessons learned From my failures and my fears; If I had known about those darker days With the brokeness and tears; I'd have stood still in time, turned my back on what was mine And in my bitterness, resigned to stand alone If I had known.
(Bridge) If I had known of my own destiny I'd have followed my own plans. And, Lord, You know So You give in grace each time and place and Looking back I understand.
(Verse 3) If I had known about the mountain peaks I'd have never sniffed the rose. If I had known about the valley steeps I'd have never learned to grow. So, from anguish to bliss, Lord, I'm thankful for what is. You see, it's all that I'd have missed out on my own If I had known.
If I had known.
