It has been mentioned several times throughout these AI/Udio threads about a comparison between past technology such as synths, drum machines, sample packages like Native Instruments, East West Orch, Ivory piano, and applications like Logic, Cubase, etc. One significant difference in past technologies was that these companies used cleared samples or created their own. AI/ Udio, however, used uncleared samples from artists and musicians without their permission. Which Is Stealing. I could accept apps like udio easier if they were honest and used cleared samples.
One other problem I have with AI technology is that it can hinder young minds in developing skills that require a great amount of time, study, knowledge, and a true sense of accomplishment – not to mention creativity.
So, you can rationalize anyway you want, to convince yourself this is legitimate, but the bottom-line is it’s stealing.
