THE CITY GIRL AND THE COUNTRY BOY (1996) by Nanette Littlestone
V1 Shes a city girl from New York City Mighty rich and mighty pretty All she cares about is movin fast. Hes a simple country boy out walkin Doesnt know about fast talkin Tryin to make the beautiful things last.
Chorus: Well, city girls and country boys They just dont get along. Doesnt matter how you try Theyve started out all wrong. But this boys gonna change that fact He just aint standin still. Cause when he saw that city girl It gave him quite a thrill.
V2 She likes convertibles and races Hangin out in fancy places Drinkin wine and eatin caviar. He doesnt understand her crowd He thinks the people are too loud But he is confident he can go far.
[Chorus]
V3 He moved right over by her side She didnt have a place to hide He gazed down into her lovely face. She glared right back at him defiant Even though he was a giant She knows how to put men in their place.
But then something happened to her She didnt understand. Its just like she was floatin Cause she wasnt feelin land. He bent and kissed her on the lips And twirled her once or twice And said, I want to marry you, I want you for my wife.
[Chorus]
V4 She looked at this big gentle guy She had a twinkle in her eye And said, I dont suppose youd dance with me. I think Id like to be your wife. She kissed him not just once but twice And he just looked at her and smiled with glee.
Well, city girls and country boys They just dont get along. Doesnt matter how you try Theyve started out all wrong. But sometimes peoples lives can change With help from up above. That city girl and country boy They went and fell in love.
That city girl and country boy They went and fell in love.
