Hey all, This is surely a valid topic to bring up every now and again. Let me add my two cents worth. I'm one of those Lyrics Only type gals. BUT, I can actually read music, play the piano and guitar, and even sing a bit. So I've got that part down. What I have absolutely no idea how to do though is come up with a melody. Honest and true...I haven't the vaguest. It's as if I have all the ingredients to make a really snazzy concoction, but I don't have the recipe. Of course it would be an ideal situation if I did...and perhaps there are studies of music theory which might help. But for the time being, I'm content to work on what I consider my strength, the words, enjoy my collaborations with the fine musicians who bear with me here at JPF, and light another candle at my Bernie Taupin shrine . Then again, never say never....so stay tuned. Cheers, Beth
