People should do whatever they are creatively driven to do. It's no more complicated than that...
Stop thinking and start DOING... and have fun... if it isn't fun, please STOP and find something to spend your time doing that brings you happiness. Don't worry if it makes others happy until AFTER it makes YOU happy. Their happiness is their problem. = )
Brian I absolutely agree with this! If you don't have the drive, why would you engage in it? And besides, writing lyrics are such a comprehensive craft (if you are ambitious about it) that it takes a LOT of your mental (and that can be physically hard too) resources, and there might not often be mental/physical surplus to do more. Of course it can be an advantage if lyricists work on their instrumental/ production chops, but not if it takes too much away from the lyric writing, and thereby drains the fun out of being creative..
