The most interesting thing about this weeks contest (songs from motion pictures) is that so many of the contestants didn't listen to the producer/director's advice about song choice.

Scotty picked the George Strait song, "I cross my heart" against "expert" advice. The producer wanted him to sing Nilsson's "Everybody's talking at me" from Midnight Cowboy, 1969. I think it is a better song but it was written 25 years before Scotty was born so I think the producer is showing his age.

James wanted to give Heavy Metal another go and Lauren wanted to do the Miley Cyrus song, "The Climb" even though it has been done to death already- I didn't know it was in a movie- oh yeah a Cyrus movie right? that shouldn't count.

Casey took a big big gamble doing Nat King Cole's "Nature boy" against the advice of the producers. He got away with it because even perplexed viewer could tell how good he preformed it. But even if he sang it so well that Nat King Cole rose from the grave and shouted "Amen brother", he couldn't win the next American Idol contest singing it.

Paul McDonald has sounded throughout this contest like his voice flamed out somewhere on the road a couple of years ago. I don't no how he stayed in the contest as long as he did.

Haley dove back down to the bottom 3 again after two pretty good weeks and she will be gone next week leaving the eventual winner, Lauren, as the only girl left. The last two standing will be Scotty and Lauren as foreshadowed by their great duet, which sounded better than the other country duet Wednesday night- Kelly Clarkson and what's-his-name. I couldn't tell who he was because his 10 gallon hat covered his face. They say his name was Jason Aldean but I'm pretty sure he was actually a Liberian spy.

Here is how I think they will leave the stage from here on out:
Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams, James Durbin and Scotty McCreery- leaving Lauren Alaina. I think Lauren will win because she is Kelly Clarkson 2011. After Haley and Stefano go, the last five all deserve to be where they are. Scotty is the biggest surprise and should win the award for "Most improved".
