yes the screaming wears very thin on me too...
however...it seemed like James was screaming a bit less lately..so I've enjoyed him more.

Haley on the other hand has been growling more and more and that annoys me no end. And I had the opposite reaction as most to her rendition of I Who have Nothing. I remember very well the old Tom Jones version... it was one of those songs that I used to sing along with (when no one else was home LOL) a lot. And it looked to me like she missed the mark on the proper emotions of the song.
With all her growling...it came off as anger... when my interpretation of the song is one of sheer desperation. and extreme angst. ie " a poor schmuck like me with no money or anything can't ever hope to be with someone like you.... but OOOOH!!!!!!! I love you.... and it's killing me!" The singer is one step away from groveling at his feet, or throwing herself off a bridge.... not ready to bite his head off.

Scotty is at least holding the mic like a flute less and less... but his facial expressions are still turning me away..

at this point I'm rooting for Lauren..
(but I really wanted Pia)
