Tony,
There's no great purpose served by "airing our differences." It's personal entertainment.
For me and the way that I am wired, I like debating things for reasons that I don't fully understand...but the big pay off is getting to see what is in the minds of people who take positions that I can't find reason in. In these semi-anonymous forums, such people unload the content of their brains. It's a fascination and a learning experience.

However, I primarily come here because of a songwriting addiction. And I would gladly give up the debates for an atmosphere...that as Brian says, would not have caused many many talented people to leave.

(Different subject...
If that were the case and I were him, I would have shut it down. Yet Brian participates in the arguments now and then. Even brings a little touch of Q to them.)

JPF has burned off people until the average age of a few remaining regs is about 68 and young people see nothing of interest in watching a small group of dinotards argue and a few zealots proselytize. And in the young minds, the dinotards do not even offer the faint illusion of actual access to the music industry.

It comes down to a real choice....do you want to see the site have any shot at all, at a build-back of songwriters across generations? Or do you just want to engage dysfuntional behavior because...it feels good to you...until Brian has to fold it up for lack of viability.

If you want to maintain the cat-box, so be it. I'll likely come leave a steamer now and then.
