They put me on medication and my fasting blood sugar dropped to 40!
I quit the meds and started checking my blood sugar 2hrs after dinner. I discovered that when I'm maintaining weight, I usually hover around 140; Which is normal. When I'm strictly dieting and slowly losing weight that number drops.
I believe the new "A1C" standard is just a Big Pharma scam to push prescription drugs. That's not to mention, I haven't seen a long term study of the effects associated with these meds. It occurs to me that if your body becomes acclimated to the meds instead of relying upon your own insulin production... that could probably do some long term harm.
Complicating the issue even more is "insulin resistance". That just seems like sedentary living to me...
Don't get me wrong, I know that insulin dependent diabetes is real. However, if you can control your blood sugar with diet and exercise, I question the validity of this new "epidemic".
