Hello Everyone!
I would tend to agree with those that understand that most writer's already know what they think about their own song... hence, we shouldn't be "wasting" a vote on ourselves, unless we truly need a "handicap" to win! [Linked Image]

Regarding the reporting of the final total counts per lyric entry...
Two options:

1. Your voting score could be posted publicly. It may not be all that bad, for example: If 90% of the folks end up with a score of say only 5 to 10 points, than 90% of us wouldn't have any reason to be embarrased cause we're really in this together and in THE SAME BOAT! [Linked Image]

2. On the other hand, it would be interesting to see the 40 or 50 entries that manged to achieve a score of 70 or even better.
Even amongst those, only a small handful will win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place and of course only one out of those will win the "Grand Prize" award! I don't recall if they are planning any honorary mentions. (?)

If 90% of us win only a few points, that would be over 450 folks that have at least tried their best and are among very good company!

Since there seems to be a desire among most of us to be able to get at least some kind of feedback as to how we "rated", this might be the easiest and least time consuming approach. Otherwise, the administrators will have to deal with some 500 + individual e-mail inquiries and replies. We don't know exactly how many of us want to know, but I would bet on at least 50% or more!

In conclusion:
1. It would be more time consuming to provide a "private" e-mailed reporting service, but it may still be feasible and the main advantage is that everyone interested could find out how they did with no embarrasement!

2. The final score could be posted next to each song title and hopefully no one would feel hurt just because they recieved only a few or no points. Sometimes it's better to get at least some feedback than nothing at all!

3. As an alternative, perhaps a page could be set up for interested contestants to log in with their regular JPF UserName and Password to pick up their score in a private manor.
Many colleges and universites provide a reporting system like this for their students to pick up final exam results and class grades, etc.

4. I belive we could all be enriched if we could obtain and/or compare score results as a learning tool in the craft of lyric and song writing! (IMHO) [Linked Image]
