This week's AI was competitive – with the guys
giving the best performances. James came with two
strong performances and rocked the stage with both.
Scotty made an excellent choice for his first song
given recent events and probably secured what will
be second place. He needs to take the country vote
this week from Lauren and I think he'll do it.
I must say that Lauren bounced back from last week's
stumble with a strong performance on her first song.
However the judges could only praise the start of
her second song. She started seductive and sexy and
ended silly. However keeping consistent with last
week's blind eyes, the judges didn't call her on it.
Yet again they went after Haley for doing a lesser
known Michael Jackson song. JLo's rant about
strategy showed that she doesn't understand that
for Haley it is strategic for her to do a lesser known
song and put her stamp on it and that a good song
doesn't need to have a gazillion spins on commercial
radio in order for people to connect with it's message.
Should Haley go to the final three instead of Lauren?
While Lauren clearly has the better voice and singing
ability, she doesn't perform great unless she's into the
song. This week, she was only into the first song and
it showed. Haley did the right thing by challenging
the judge's criticism and Steven was right for chiming
in for her. She needed to do damage control by thwarting
the producer controlled judges, who obviously prefer
Lauren to Haley. The swing vote was at stake. We'll
see if she's successful. At this time, if I was to invest
my money in one of these finalists, it would be Scotty
or James. I think one of the ladies is going to be eliminated.
