The mouse that sleeps next to the elephant is always keen on knowing what the elephant is going to do. Most people in my circle are aware of what goes on in the US and many have strong opinions on what might\should happen. As you point out, many Americans have no idea what happens outside the US and moreover, couldn't care less. Perhaps this is the fault of your media, perhaps it is a fault of the American people...qui sais? Our newspapers are full of what happens in the world....and follow political events in the US very closely.. And perhaps it is BECAUSE we are so well informed that we walk our own path.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

"First came if only? Then came what if? After that I'll bet. Next was just maybe. Followed by Aha, I thought so! And eventually, okay, what next!" -Brian Austin Whitney on the stages of creativity and Just Plain Folks.
