There will always be a trade-off between security and freedom. They are mutually exclusive.

In war time, Americans have shown a willingness to give up freedom to obtain more security. Eventually though, either the war ends or people lose their patience and the pendulum begins to swing the other way.

As long as the pendulum still moves, I'm not too worried...

The loss of freedoms that we have today, in my opinion, pales compared to what we endured (or embraced) during WW II (draft, rationing, internal spying [albeit with worse techology]). But the leaders then wisely involved the entire American populace in the war effort, while our current leaders put the brunt of the war effort on the families of soldiers and try to encourage the rest of us to continue consuming as if nothing is wrong....

Talk about a recipe for polarizing people!
