On the mandatory seatbelt issue....the law is there because there must be a statistic which shows that more injuries or deaths occur because of not wearing one. So, in essence, they are enforcing the wearing of seatbelts because it will save more lives.

What that says to me is that more people are scared of getting fined the $75 than they are of the possible injury or death.

When people do not take care of themselves, then the government feels they have to step in. It's just the way of the world. People are given the opportunity to govern themselves until stats show that something is not working out. Then, justice has to take over in some form.

Sorry that you find the seatbelt thing annoying. If you look at my new avatar, you can see that I can't even fit into a car anymore! I have to ride a Harley and that helmet law causes my hair to go flat....
