"Sam, I'm not understanding your answer. What does the idea of things being "free" have to do with making changes on the planet?
There HAS to be some sort of exchange for things or no one would be able to eat or pay bills."
What!?!?!
Uhhh, somehow the wires got crossed, I thought that the issue I was talkin' about was tobacco taxes and the simple fact that now tobacco and weed prices are about the same. Only trouble is, too many complete idiots in positions of power have absolute control over the legality of weed. With very few isolated cases, such as Oregon's and Alaska's legalization, pushing the gov't. to universally legalize weed, we might see a change coming soon.....but I don't know.
Heidi, what I was referring to was this.....
"Sam, In any group, there are those that make things happen, those that watch things happen and those that complain about things.
So, the question I always ask myself whenever I don't like something is this: "What part of this situation can I be responsible for?"
If more people actually took some responsibility for things, we'd have a much better planet. But it seems as though a lot of people are either sleeping, robots, lazy, apathetic or angry.
Anger is at least an emotion with an impulse toward taking action in the direction of change. But, even anger only changes things with fists, bullets, knives, etc. Anger rarely changes anything within a peaceful means.
So, how does change actually occur to make things better? It takes an organized effort of some type. But, most people are not willing to organize anything let alone put out any effort.
And that is why we have non-optimum situations in the first place. It's the product of the symptom.
I know you've taken organized action to help the hungry. That's very cool.
Auntie Rant"
I alone cannot make this aforementioned change, although relocation to places out West where I could join those already involved in pushing for said change, is a distinct possibility. Not much interest for that kind of liberal horseshit here in Nashville. Yes, many people may think that tobacco and marijuana are a complete and utter waste of money, both for the user, law enforcement, and gov't., but those people aren't me, nor I them....and neither of us care to hear the other. Therein lies our difference of opinion, and our apparent lack of mutual understanding.
I have indeed tried to help the homeless, the hungry, and the disenchanted here in Nashville, to no real avail, although I will continue to be more active when the opportunity arises.
This thread be made for ranting, so I rant, but deep down, Auntie, nothing changes...deep down our friendship is solid and eternal. Just wish that some, if not all, of these characters whose words and actions give us plenty of sh*t to rant about would get that same idea....

"First came if only? Then came what if? After that I'll bet. Next was just maybe. Followed by Aha, I thought so! And eventually, okay, what next!" -Brian Austin Whitney on the stages of creativity and Just Plain Folks.
