If you go on youtube and read the comments, or on songmeanings.com and read why people like the songs, a lot of it is just that they relate to it some way. Some say, OMG I heard this song when I kissed so and so for the first time.
(so, depending on their relationship status she might love it the rest of her life or hate it and never listen to it again, or love it but its too painful to listen to)
