Ever since I started playing music back in the late 50's I heard people in the business saying "you need a gimmick to get noticed" or "you need a different sound that stands out from the rest". Every songwriting star I can think of had that. Hank williams, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Who, Elton John, etc. etc. They sounded and acted different. What was also on their side was they could promote their own material because they could sing and play it their way. The same thing applies today. Nothing has changed. Do it different. Vic

"If you are stuck in your musical composing, be unreasonable. Change your environment. If you are stuck in your lyrical efforts, instead of forcing the same old words out, force yourself to do unreasonable things." -Brian Austin Whitney
