Another argument here may be the argument of "craft" vs. "art".
Again: one can easily argue for somebody as a great crafts(wo)man, as all the pieces are there and easy to point to. But great art is, once again, subjective.
Not that the two are necessarily mutually exclusive, but they do not necessarily always coexist, either.
Maybe there are too many (wannabe) artists out there who have not yet learned the craft, or who ignore the craft. But whether or not they are successful is anybody's call.
