An argument for the continued existence of great songwriting in the new millennium: Magnetic Fields - "All My Little Words" And it isn't too far under the surface of the mainstream that you have to dig. These guys regularly sell out 1500-seat venues. And this song from 1995, which was a HUGE hit in the UK: Pulp - "Common People" Neither one may be your "thing", but I do think that the craft and skill are undeniable in both. And both can be easily translated by other artists and into other genres. Isn't that the real mark of a great SONG?
