Seems Canada has the same problem.

There are practical decisions to be made for both countries. My first suggestion is a chill pill.

Trump just got into office in a decisive election (not a landslide). Like him or hate him, he has endured an unrelenting onslaught that would have broken almost everyone else. That included a rifle bullet coming within a few MMs of his skull. Calling him names don't stop him. When it comes to economic warfare, Canada has a pistol. Trump has a cannon. (which includes influence over your other trading partners)

The most intelligent thing for everyone to do is to back it down and get back to negotiations. Trump was just using comparative satire with the crap about Canada becoming a state. He started the conversation by framing the relative strenght(s) of the parties involved.
