Population size, niche markets, overall relations, suicidal consequences...are all factored in. And it is highly subjective and uncertain as to outcome. These tariffs were somehow averaged and indexed against even currency manipulation.

Trump was presented with an overall economic condition of the US.
He saw a 1 trillion dollar trade deficit and went to work pounding it down on behalf of this country.
He has now disrupted the world in that effort.

I have no idea why he picked on Canada with all the 51st state crap, but he did. However, I still wonder about the Lysol thing.
All sorts of sh+t is flying, all sorts of heads are rattling, but the facts are also beginning to evolve a little.
And it appears that the US auto mfgs told Trump, that if your blast Canada and Mexico, you will shut us down, so he backed off.

He APPEARS to have thrown down the gauntlet on China and the EU. Who knows what is actually happening.

Everett,
From Trump's viewpoint, I think that you Canadians are the least of it.

Try to relax.
