It there are innocent undocumented or documented migrants among them...you cannot simply say...as Homan said some weeks back....."they are collateral damage" .

These folks are in that facility even if they should not be there. That is (hopefully) settled by due process.

You describe a nasty place built to rid El Salvador of its gang control and from what I saw, that is one secure place.

And FD...I am sure there are some like you describe....but from what I have read (no formal research mind you) kids join under pressure (used by gangs because of laws protecting juveniles) or because they see kids their age spending money and driving cars and want that.


Mind you there are some that are just evil to the core, probably biology at play.

But some... Could probably cut in half

Reasons Kids Join Gangs
Unstable/broken home.
Economic instability.
Low education attainment and expectations.
Family members in a gang.
Neglect by one or both parents.
Violence in the home or in the community, directed at the child.
Alcoholism and or drug abuse by one or both of the parents.
