I agree with you, I havent heard anything new in my lifetime. Everybody copies each other, the great ones copy from the greats.

Some of the more original artists I have seen over the years would be Prince, although he stole alot from James Brown, Stevie Wonder,
maybe some of stings stuff. u2 had something different, they werent able to play covers, so they learned how to write their own songs! lol, so they came up with a unique sound.

Rap I suppose had something new about it, heavy metal took the blues out of hard rock and went somewhere slightly different.

We might need a whole new set of musical guidlines. Somebody to invent something that doesnt involve the blues or borrow from roots music.

Maybe then people will start buying music again.
