I appreciate all the comments, I dont mean to say anyone is wrong or im right not matter how right I may be LOL.

My basic idea for starting the thread was that the actual song, is not the focus for most trying to market music today.

Crafting a great song is simply something you do for sport today, if you want to pitch or market your songs, you have to follow the pecking order.

Marketing, Hook, Production, Performance, and oh yea the song.

Songs are not songs, they are performances recorded in a studio.

An acoustic bit like "yesterday" wouldnt likely get more than an indie interest today.

For the guy talking about singer songwriter deals, I see what u mean, but more and more artists are in the DIY business, they DONT want a label stealing their little money they have and make.

That is the one blessing from all the internet changes, you dont need a label, u can go out and do it yourself, and if u are really good u might get some fans.

As far as selling music, it's not going to matter how perfectly metered your lyrics are!
