It's hard to call anything a fable unless you know for sure it is. Personally, I don't put down anyone for their beliefs, even if they differ from mine. Man may very well have misinterpeted the word of any given God in any of the religions. But, if you follow almost any of the religions out there, the answer to those critical questions asked above are answered. Religion is not bad because some bad things have been done in it's name. And if anyone is going to list those they should also list all the good things that have been done in the name of religion. Fair is fair.
Does religion have any bearing on morality? Only if you follow it.
Would a lot of the bad things happening in the world today be happening if everyone followed the moral codes that most religions preach? I don't think so.
Would our youth have better morals if they followed those standards? I am sure they would.
