It amazes me that people who think the government has made a mess of pretty much all it has touched, want to use it an an instrument to teach religion.
I see it another way: they want the government to look the other way as they pressure school officials to allow religious teaching and demonize people who object. That's more consistent with the party line.
And of course, only Christian teaching is permissible. Talk about teaching Islam or Hinduism instead and watch them get all worked up.
