Yes the kids did get some punishment.
None went to jail although one did wind up in Juvenile detention for other things. The oldest one was tried as an adult, received probation and community service and paid $1200 restitution.
The others were tried as juvenile's. Tried is the wrong word. They all pled guilty so no actual trial.
Punishment was probation and community service but restitution was limited to $125.00 each. Had something to do with state laws regarding juvenile's. And they had to write a letter of apology to me and my family. I actually only received two letters though.

And to be honest I did not want the kids to receive jail time. I did not think it was the best punishment. They would miss school and would probably be in with people that were worse than them.
I hoped probation and community service would be enough punishment.
For a couple it was but the others went on to get in more trouble. Jail time might have been better I guess.

My homeowners insurance covered the loss.
