This topic is a hot one....I am raising two kids now in todays world and it is tough...I get told its not ok to spank my kids but I was spanked and I turned out all right. I don't steal, cheat or lie...But i think the worst thing so far is we give too much without the kids earning it....I have friends that have an Xbox in front of each tv...how many can ya have???? each room has a phone no one has to wait their turn and everyone has their own bathroom....There is no waiting or learning patience every thing is about right "now" more is better and less sucks! I recently read that the biggest favor we could do our kids is have them feel "want" it creates drive... True or not true but I did have "want" in my life as a kid...I got one thing for Xmas that I wanted, the rest was what my parents felt I needed, I didn't argue/or feel left out...my kids get three guarenteed things from Santa...
I don't think kids have really changed I do think parenting has changed...I'm 42 my kid sis is 23 and we are night and day... Walmart is a dirty word for her....LOL...my parents were older and changed the way they parented....its wild really...
I do believe media has a hand in what kids believe, look at adults we go out and buy things after seeing a commercial and we have life experience, we still can get sucked in!
