John it's so good you are asking. You may get dozens of different answers. In the end, only you can decide since you have a God given free will. It is the most important decision you will ever make in your entire life, because by not accepting this free gift you are rejecting God so it is a decision either way. I do know that being born again means being born of the spirit. When we are born we have a physical birth when our mother delivers us through childbirth. When and if we come to accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior we become born again, i.e. born of the spirit. It's not a second physical birth but rather a first spiritual birth. This happens very simply by asking for forgiveness and meaning it. The answer is always yes and God knows your heart. Nothing more nothing less nothing else. I am not at all a "religious" person but rather I have a real relationship with Jesus Christ, big difference!!!

As far as getting saved and then realizing there may be family members or loved ones you feel are not, well I am not totally sure on this issue so I looked up that question and this is what I found (whether it's technically 100% correct I am not sure)

Question: "Will we remember our earthly lives when we are in Heaven?"

Answer: Isaiah 65:17 tells us, “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” Some interpret Isaiah 65:17 as saying that we will have no memory of our earthly lives in heaven. However, one verse earlier in Isaiah 65:16, the Bible says, “For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.” It is likely only our “past troubles” that will be forgotten – not all of our memories. Our memories will be cleansed, redeemed, healed, and restored – not erased. There is no reason why we could not possess many memories from our earthly lives. The memories that will be cleansed are the ones that involve sin, pain, and sadness. Revelation 21:4 declares, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Hope this helps John and I may I say very humbly, I am no expert on all things biblical, but basically it comes down to whether or not you believe the Bible. Some do some don't and it's always been like that since the beginning of time and will be till the end. Very simply I believe in God, I believe that Jesus died for sinners of which I am one, I believe with my whole heart I will spend eternity in Heaven and I do believe in Hell as well.

Call me crazy, call me kooky
Call me nitwit, call me loopy
Words like that they don't offend me
I have Jesus who defends me
Someday He will call my name
At Heaven's pearly gates
I know I'll be invited in
And man will it be great!!! smile

Best of decisions,
