I really appreciate all the dinner offers! It's just that the food is invisible to me. I can't see it, feel it or taste it, and when I try to eat it anyway, I'm still hungry. The nice folks who offer it seem to be enjoying it though, so I try to be polite when I decline.

To the faithful, beliefs are facts. This goes for those who have faith in science as well as for those who have faith in scripture. So as much as I accept Tim's assertion that "their beliefs won't allow them to respect yours", I also find the same to be true in reverse. For every Christian who wants to stop two people from marrying, there's an atheist who wants to prevent someone from praying. There is a lot of wiggle room in the interpretation of both secular truths and biblical truths, so I wish we could all work harder on supporting rather than hindering one another.
