Dear Mr. Knowitall:

How many times have you woken up next to your significant other and had her (or him) say, "You jerk! How could you DO that?"

She (or he) is blaming you for something that you did in their dream!

Only happened to you once or twice? - well that's enough! It's happened to most folks so I think many would relate to a song about it - especially if it's an uptempo country rocker that would give them a laugh. It might even diffuse a tense situation so an artist who recorded such a song might even save a few lives!

With that in mind, I humbly submit "I'm not to blame (for what I do in your dreams)". I realize the music to this might sound a little dated so I hope you can hear past that and imagine it being given a more modern treatment by one of your current artists.

Please let me know if you have any interest in plugging this song to one of them. I'll give a link to the song below and also provide the lyric. Let's have some fun and save some lives!

Regards,
Scott Campbell

I’m not to blame (for what I do in your dreams)
(c) 2008 by S.W. Campbell

I woke up one night to a slap on the back of my head
My Baby said, “Try that again and you’ll wake up dead”
I sputtered, “Who, what or where do you think I’ve been?”
She said, “I dreamed you came home three sheets to the wind
And tried to get a three-way going with me and my best friend”

Now, Honey I’m just an average guy
And sometimes things slide through my mind
If I ever slip up Baby, well I’ll take the heat
But girl, I’m not to blame for what I do in your dreams

One morning last week my eggs were chilled and my grapefruit was fried
My coffee was cold but not as cold as my Baby’s eyes
She said, “I dreamed you quit your job without telling me
And spent the last week down in New Orleans
Filming Girls Gone Wild in some dive down on Bourbon Street

Now, Honey I’m just an average guy
And sometimes things slide through my mind
If I ever slip up Baby, well I’ll take the heat
But girl, I’m not to blame for what I do in your dreams

Then last night my Baby woke me up with a smile
She said, “That’s the nicest thing you’ve done for me in awhile”
I almost said “Well Baby, it was in your head”
But I grinned, said “Shucks”, and laid back on the bed

Now, Honey I’m just an average guy
But even in your dreams sometimes I’ll get it right
I’m not about to turn my back on a special treat
If I’m gonna take the blame for what I do in your dreams
