So Derek, this means you might win as the one "who's submission matched up the best with the music", but still not be used when he gets down to recording his ultimate demo. However, if you got to the #8 thing, and he DID use it for his demo, then you WOULD be a cowriter/co-owner, and you COULD shop it.
