I also want to chime in to say Pete's a great guy...almost scored me an excellent Lyle guitar (I've been kicking myself ever since...that one was rock solid), and he collaborates a lot.
But I still wonder about his "legal" point. Does he own his own melody and lyric in this context? (The context being "create a melody and lyric based on my music...) If he went out and recorded a new song with his melody and lyric...wouldn't he still have your backing chord progression?...
Seems to me that Sub can't be cut out of the equation.
